Badd Biird, badd. :) Well, it's starting to get cooler so I'm sure there will be more quilting blogging (and quilting, of course) in my future.
<P><P>I got a little Halloween crazy the last few weeks. I guess it's about time, right? :)
<P><P>
First thing I did was a wall hanging that is now gracing the wall between my office and my boss's office. Much as I dislike applique, I really like how she came out. The pattern for her is from <a href="http://eatcakegraphics.com/cakenew/">Eat Cake Graphics</a>. Here she is in her current habitat (not sure it's natural, but it works!):
<p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBqFUo80IRp5DpI1XCSu4884a0dYduwdd3GHBWT4LpGp8SgH7X9XRWIP3OKAafyjUU4GER1cdbNIRIpYlNAvPpndao8F51jDlOhKu0DrXeMz56nfu4kHYEkFRdHkzu9PXLo0VkpI5E/s1600/IMG_2345.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBqFUo80IRp5DpI1XCSu4884a0dYduwdd3GHBWT4LpGp8SgH7X9XRWIP3OKAafyjUU4GER1cdbNIRIpYlNAvPpndao8F51jDlOhKu0DrXeMz56nfu4kHYEkFRdHkzu9PXLo0VkpI5E/s400/IMG_2345.JPG" /></a></div>
<p>
I LOVE their stuff - in fact, I have 11 or 12 of their <a href="http://www.eatcakegraphics.com/cakenew/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=26">17 quilt patterns</a>. :)
<p>
<P>
This past weekend I got a little more nutty and made a table topper for the Halloween candy bowl at the office. I mean, the little black table was just too plain. :) :
<P><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3oGLQLBgVdz105OILaVOidOwC79NtYaeFIovKhF7NGmoI3uTTIMk4LekKt92RqgLEVB1N7VR6t0zzOSBBN2bw__r2VeY5GxQeYi8PBJXCEOgFxd32v7qsbFM7abZYc9CugYKmvCmu/s1600/IMG_2346.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3oGLQLBgVdz105OILaVOidOwC79NtYaeFIovKhF7NGmoI3uTTIMk4LekKt92RqgLEVB1N7VR6t0zzOSBBN2bw__r2VeY5GxQeYi8PBJXCEOgFxd32v7qsbFM7abZYc9CugYKmvCmu/s400/IMG_2346.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyc4XgiEnRlZ1kmkPM9ILc1MLqGIz7uA-TOuoMNFQjhnud58cY6SA3S_FO_t42bBGh0CfuvhZkX7jLLUg2oVJjRRmT_wFXe_8bZBB1_GdD4cPosAHA6B8RwmZVOBiLsiOfLLefFAUP/s1600/IMG_2347.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyc4XgiEnRlZ1kmkPM9ILc1MLqGIz7uA-TOuoMNFQjhnud58cY6SA3S_FO_t42bBGh0CfuvhZkX7jLLUg2oVJjRRmT_wFXe_8bZBB1_GdD4cPosAHA6B8RwmZVOBiLsiOfLLefFAUP/s400/IMG_2347.JPG" /></a></div>
<P>
<P><P>Also decided that I needed a new purse. And then determined that it needed to be Halloween themed. I went with the <a href="http://www.lazygirldesigns.com/products/mini-miranda-bag">Mini Miranda Bag by Lazy Girl Designs</a>. Came out CUTE!!
<P><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaRMACq5bCeE8nDEWDsYjM8CovpeORPwnk7jHP6toKXJYoaJoyt47OENUB6UEiZ6nwi6LHMaKyM_NVZR-6jIyM94W8Vtpe67_nXHNnfIZHN9m3mcAVEflYyZMguXnxBojEzn9U7ShS/s1600/IMG_2358.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaRMACq5bCeE8nDEWDsYjM8CovpeORPwnk7jHP6toKXJYoaJoyt47OENUB6UEiZ6nwi6LHMaKyM_NVZR-6jIyM94W8Vtpe67_nXHNnfIZHN9m3mcAVEflYyZMguXnxBojEzn9U7ShS/s400/IMG_2358.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-6LgzxbLZ_D4MvB0_2AoBoEwfzJLl7mAIWi2gmWsiyxGlJgpFhVHHcSw7zZqGGj2rW4F5HHNAc_wDD9cEEzgXXf4JJIZ8rSFSVjXVTlxrtikdfWia8BYPQmKXWiKLJ-CWT206ahK9/s1600/IMG_2357.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-6LgzxbLZ_D4MvB0_2AoBoEwfzJLl7mAIWi2gmWsiyxGlJgpFhVHHcSw7zZqGGj2rW4F5HHNAc_wDD9cEEzgXXf4JJIZ8rSFSVjXVTlxrtikdfWia8BYPQmKXWiKLJ-CWT206ahK9/s400/IMG_2357.JPG" /></a></div>
<P>
I made a modification on the straps - I really like the cotton webbing for my purse straps. I jazzed them up a bit with some of the fabric in the purse and then made a key fob / wristlet the same way to go with it. The fabric on the webbing in the key chain matches the green skulls but the picture totally sucks.
<P><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBK4LmRHxDj2YTWtHCje8KYB_oqN4_LraU-GtumWdxFy3iSMHG7XlgsYkfR3s0Foxb1LNkIjcIWPKtXHpGyi-zApZENn-rkezIWtXOhV5SvRryce43OOVVhSo1OO2Z9XvLGXv1c8d_/s1600/IMG_2356.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBK4LmRHxDj2YTWtHCje8KYB_oqN4_LraU-GtumWdxFy3iSMHG7XlgsYkfR3s0Foxb1LNkIjcIWPKtXHpGyi-zApZENn-rkezIWtXOhV5SvRryce43OOVVhSo1OO2Z9XvLGXv1c8d_/s400/IMG_2356.JPG" /></a></div>
<P>
I made bunch of little pouches (and a couple not so little pouches).
<P><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOePgcegdNNlGJfQ2KcnjokfUxq6nxtaur49lGKLP0Ccmm2GaptIRMjiLFH4UVMcgkyPjMzor60_675JbPKNy-Njc66K_wF54m8iAk5ZJhMcI5tEJH2oCMqnbQF9CXrCe76TkfPdiD/s1600/IMG_2348.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOePgcegdNNlGJfQ2KcnjokfUxq6nxtaur49lGKLP0Ccmm2GaptIRMjiLFH4UVMcgkyPjMzor60_675JbPKNy-Njc66K_wF54m8iAk5ZJhMcI5tEJH2oCMqnbQF9CXrCe76TkfPdiD/s400/IMG_2348.JPG" /></a></div>
<P>
The larger two I used the <a href="http://www.lovethefabric.com/store-detail.php?cat=1&ID=15">A Little Duffle Do It by Karen West</a>. Tres adorable! (And spacious!) The other two that look similar, I just used scraps I had left over and left out the Peltex.
<P><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0a1txM34lizk_ALWHHrxXwmYnXATa8XoN0AdwVtlC5xLqyZXth8S8llTfYIGaL7dQCHCjVEBaKDuyFM3o94_D5RiUR5fVzHa621h2EzJMZykeR6zgniaMRaLdnPMfQwIUItlgP6MG/s1600/IMG_2349.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0a1txM34lizk_ALWHHrxXwmYnXATa8XoN0AdwVtlC5xLqyZXth8S8llTfYIGaL7dQCHCjVEBaKDuyFM3o94_D5RiUR5fVzHa621h2EzJMZykeR6zgniaMRaLdnPMfQwIUItlgP6MG/s400/IMG_2349.JPG" /></a></div>
<P>
For the zipper pouches, I used a tutorial that I found online but don't have the site info with me. (I'll find it and update it.) One was done right albeit a bit bigger than the tutorial calls for, while the other was totally screwed up but still works for my iPods. :)

I also made a wallet (designer and pattern info at home - will update this info later). Very cute and comfortable in my pocket. I think that as long as I don't try to stuff it with cards and/or change it'll be okay. Only problem I have with it is that it could be about 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer (you're supposed to be able to fit 2 credit cards side by side - I can only fit one and have empty space on the other side). When folded with credit cards in it, it doesn't fold in the middle and you can see some of the cards. Still cute. I'll make a few adjustments if I decide to make it again.

Now to figure out what to dress as for Halloween ....

I started mine a little early (Friday late afternoon). I was so into it I made 3 quilt tops and the binding for 2 of them. Still planning on making the binding for the 3rd with the bits and pieces left over.
<P><P>Friday night was this one:
<P><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZKRMDQk2RPDlWMSlzjujxNPJ4UZ-O2IeBd7BaGqZuy4NvnwOrndgc6Lt9KPSKGfuJfrvKQ2tEMZQIRP9EnQr0zCMsCnUCy5g1VyuoKeiUMQOF_BRKklWPsR07srU8oN9Q5d4M_Bjo/s1600/IMG_1949.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZKRMDQk2RPDlWMSlzjujxNPJ4UZ-O2IeBd7BaGqZuy4NvnwOrndgc6Lt9KPSKGfuJfrvKQ2tEMZQIRP9EnQr0zCMsCnUCy5g1VyuoKeiUMQOF_BRKklWPsR07srU8oN9Q5d4M_Bjo/s320/IMG_1949.JPG" /></a>
<P><P>
Saturday was this one:
<P><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgopXao7twwjMZjrWV0FBxX1vGM2Bw42L1i8uOVYWFJtD3jRA2mU55qi7-FdjooqNBi1LJ09xpz3UQSVCosM_md8NuTI0OqT8V8M_C1YSkk2Jpc08leCoixXXhPgvj7BXumNMuxYrGQ/s1600/IMG_1954.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgopXao7twwjMZjrWV0FBxX1vGM2Bw42L1i8uOVYWFJtD3jRA2mU55qi7-FdjooqNBi1LJ09xpz3UQSVCosM_md8NuTI0OqT8V8M_C1YSkk2Jpc08leCoixXXhPgvj7BXumNMuxYrGQ/s320/IMG_1954.JPG" /></a>
<P><P>
And this one I started Saturday late afternoon and finished Sunday evening:
<P><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYDbfHfph5EwOi7KmJeTdCakNha2M8S68RMVVAzFxv90tznL9FwTjhoOUL9xosGyJZjKdU2DteWQJTXUnpg9FpyJo8VsN8W70Dg_jPzm7IM5yirre7Ph4ZM4YEEDLOw2S43Jrn1AGc/s1600/IMG_1956.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYDbfHfph5EwOi7KmJeTdCakNha2M8S68RMVVAzFxv90tznL9FwTjhoOUL9xosGyJZjKdU2DteWQJTXUnpg9FpyJo8VsN8W70Dg_jPzm7IM5yirre7Ph4ZM4YEEDLOw2S43Jrn1AGc/s320/IMG_1956.JPG" /></a>
<P>
I'm going to make the binding for this one out of the scraps left over from cutting the "petal" or star points pieces. The pattern calls for a green print but I think the scrappy binding will look cool.
<P><P>
I finished a couple of other ones in the last couple of weeks. This one that the hubby picked out the fabrics for:
<p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc3kPYRNA5LzynzBkGD2WmLCThbLULS3Khmx4IuoyMvws5X82lc9NAdjlgMwqk6tNRx_A4E0kUc0qXeAWbLvyEqtDXmKjVetg5wX04W0EbLmQlZzlhg8Dm6KqL77NnNoTF80YXZ-jf/s1600/IMG_1934.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc3kPYRNA5LzynzBkGD2WmLCThbLULS3Khmx4IuoyMvws5X82lc9NAdjlgMwqk6tNRx_A4E0kUc0qXeAWbLvyEqtDXmKjVetg5wX04W0EbLmQlZzlhg8Dm6KqL77NnNoTF80YXZ-jf/s320/IMG_1934.JPG" /></a>
<P><P>
and this one:
<p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIF2xFUxNz7ihfmc8vOmWEUealIqQFY9S1ARNZTTbeQ-QvG9hMo5fUWuCFnbOw1YgUWDU5bZ9T4zMB_1kLToQ7f_VLq99A3i-OzKXg3bh4j1QWlmTuFR63KHOTYWH7FLLdBEQ9ZjJY/s1600/IMG_1930.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIF2xFUxNz7ihfmc8vOmWEUealIqQFY9S1ARNZTTbeQ-QvG9hMo5fUWuCFnbOw1YgUWDU5bZ9T4zMB_1kLToQ7f_VLq99A3i-OzKXg3bh4j1QWlmTuFR63KHOTYWH7FLLdBEQ9ZjJY/s320/IMG_1930.JPG" /></a>
<P>which I quilted by hand as well as did a little bit of tying on. Bet Katie-did recognizes the pattern. :)
<P><P>Days like today make me wish I had taken some vacation this week. Apparently I'm motivated to piece tops. Now to figure out what to work on next (after I get the scrappy binding made so it's ready to use when the quilt is, well, quilted. :)
<P><P>
Happy St Patrick's Day (tomorrow)!

<p><p>
Made a nice little boxy ditty/dopp-type bag out of a couple of fat quarters (and still have enough of both fabrics to make another if I want). The lining was from some yardage.

<p>The pattern I used was by Ellie Mae - <a href="http://kwiksew.mccall.com/k0155-products-47735.php?page_id=3013&search_control=display&list=search">Bag Everything</a>. Couple of tricky spots but overall a fairly quick and relatively uncomplicated pattern to follow.
<P><P>
Also made a couple of cute little zipper bags ... they start flat:
<p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPC41bl81DyCaT6RK8jfCp4rFm33uGyF_zdWSMcOTyxJRWCAXYZe0JAyPcZ6jKi2aKS5PRWcOoK6pEqwNWv5dBoaREOyzEefLWt4D9mP4i3zbZbotbkF_uyFZ0L1KIq_GnIHdEfuHC/s1600/IMG_1921.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPC41bl81DyCaT6RK8jfCp4rFm33uGyF_zdWSMcOTyxJRWCAXYZe0JAyPcZ6jKi2aKS5PRWcOoK6pEqwNWv5dBoaREOyzEefLWt4D9mP4i3zbZbotbkF_uyFZ0L1KIq_GnIHdEfuHC/s320/IMG_1921.JPG" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS5Lwx7WHnaABXAy9qOLIv-2EDkQzvszXOOFm7ctysk2ObLUPIoqWZaRApk-dQcIq7RpOnGGklo44Gc9fJ3GAjSM04dTxBnuQDb_TBd4gO7XpK49UI_IRILIINRV6Cg9yRYM0DuIsb/s1600/IMG_1924.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS5Lwx7WHnaABXAy9qOLIv-2EDkQzvszXOOFm7ctysk2ObLUPIoqWZaRApk-dQcIq7RpOnGGklo44Gc9fJ3GAjSM04dTxBnuQDb_TBd4gO7XpK49UI_IRILIINRV6Cg9yRYM0DuIsb/s320/IMG_1924.JPG" /></a>
<P><P>
and then when you zip them up they become little funky barrel-like things:
<P><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIwO_jeqpTbe1X9W5hro3rZry0zDkJi4ltUYYEIY-6ViiQccbO388ACYvExYRxgtH-U0FvOuZqYoEPGVIXS2cMRvKIk06sjG4ntkvBCJDZTcDiQYpwx6bkhhZ_hs9YC3oyaBdqezl7/s1600/IMG_1926.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIwO_jeqpTbe1X9W5hro3rZry0zDkJi4ltUYYEIY-6ViiQccbO388ACYvExYRxgtH-U0FvOuZqYoEPGVIXS2cMRvKIk06sjG4ntkvBCJDZTcDiQYpwx6bkhhZ_hs9YC3oyaBdqezl7/s320/IMG_1926.JPG" /></a>

<p>The pattern for these came from Bella Nonna - <a href="http://www.bellanonnaquilt.com/items/187_zippety_bags_pattern.aspx">Zippety Bags</a>. The pattern has 5 different sizes. I made the smallest and the middle-sized one. The little one tucks inside of the other quite nicely:
<p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5nWvswnIE4hWUEx7Q8xgk5M8jS7IOum1pszt2jn9jH8jaWlqooTe43sNA7KPSjnbuUx24HK6NLtnkMgSAEoKOViDlXUCuNniFR8w9vxWBCLD6oFst7UcPmhGS0Y2lehsqF6fdjktH/s1600/IMG_1928.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5nWvswnIE4hWUEx7Q8xgk5M8jS7IOum1pszt2jn9jH8jaWlqooTe43sNA7KPSjnbuUx24HK6NLtnkMgSAEoKOViDlXUCuNniFR8w9vxWBCLD6oFst7UcPmhGS0Y2lehsqF6fdjktH/s320/IMG_1928.JPG" /></a>
<P>
I may make a few more - they're kinda fun! Pretty easy and VERY cute.
<P><P>
Let's see ... what's the next project going to be ... :)

<P><P>Finally finished the futon cover
<P><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrZKJS7HG5hGS9GH3WLrULsSL_v6LOHo8GbyOLEa5wFhJmZrz2scEA4y2jySd-V4hLk9F24CwnHxcy2PACpfG-7z8p2T6U_bQ79V_PbMiiekzlodWq4l-rei5zJ403aE82r5Kqc5Zn/s1600/IMG_1877.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrZKJS7HG5hGS9GH3WLrULsSL_v6LOHo8GbyOLEa5wFhJmZrz2scEA4y2jySd-V4hLk9F24CwnHxcy2PACpfG-7z8p2T6U_bQ79V_PbMiiekzlodWq4l-rei5zJ403aE82r5Kqc5Zn/s320/IMG_1877.JPG" /></a>
<P><P>
I also made a clock
<p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4Rrj4mwkwdYkHkOsOUejj46HEVstM3Y7kHRpoXQnmBHUJruVdL3j3u2RNJZYSY5YAuGcRsdkP-jWpwyaIK3Er0hH4He2wJNcQOWATNODy5e1bKH5FZi7H3KcrerSbFRR8FUR19BNA/s1600/IMG_1883.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4Rrj4mwkwdYkHkOsOUejj46HEVstM3Y7kHRpoXQnmBHUJruVdL3j3u2RNJZYSY5YAuGcRsdkP-jWpwyaIK3Er0hH4He2wJNcQOWATNODy5e1bKH5FZi7H3KcrerSbFRR8FUR19BNA/s320/IMG_1883.JPG" /></a>
<P><P>
(Make that 2 clocks - couldn't read the time so well on the first one - I've got to find red hands for it.)
<P><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA6h3vT8phQuVPi5sZZekZloG0rWlY1JcqewAS3nrq4ImQQIYzYXOpliajEL7wYrlIzgKkKwu6t5R8p_6PFrP8jxjAfh7mG0wTuq1q_Vv6Jzi0hHZB02bzwLKAMK2jRpC2lgU0ORf1/s1600/IMG_1911.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA6h3vT8phQuVPi5sZZekZloG0rWlY1JcqewAS3nrq4ImQQIYzYXOpliajEL7wYrlIzgKkKwu6t5R8p_6PFrP8jxjAfh7mG0wTuq1q_Vv6Jzi0hHZB02bzwLKAMK2jRpC2lgU0ORf1/s320/IMG_1911.JPG" /></a><p>You can actually SEE the time on this one.
<P><P>
Put some hex mirrors up between the windows. Cool but weird. I keep thinking that the curtains are open and I can see the outside ... little disconcerting from the corner of the eye. :)
<P><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyeXiM-Ee4AxIJ6K5-A7aojFEu2Fy8d2zVN4TdpQzUmT3r3fM6xe6YzidOFSdr1p5UqaJaNbk52MFIrUbhs07FM70-uiZSS6G3TZ_ntVthM_kBs2Q6v8pNhKvwXaKYe5HZLI4jOzIo/s1600/photo2.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyeXiM-Ee4AxIJ6K5-A7aojFEu2Fy8d2zVN4TdpQzUmT3r3fM6xe6YzidOFSdr1p5UqaJaNbk52MFIrUbhs07FM70-uiZSS6G3TZ_ntVthM_kBs2Q6v8pNhKvwXaKYe5HZLI4jOzIo/s320/photo2.jpg" /></a>
<P><P>
I got the throw quilted/tied and bound. Went with black minkee for the back, red floss for the tying/knots, and red for the binding.

<P><P>
The only things left to do in here are curtains, maybe a new sewing machine cover, and possibly cushions for the little black and red stool/footstools.
<P><P>
I've also recently made a baby quilt for a past coworker of the hubby. Quick and easy pattern. Came out pretty cute.
<P><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgsgGDJBvdB1i5e0TVgQ5iZ3YkuSRoUzP9o8sq69meBQAGDOPFFYWq2twz-vUV6rszA6cDU0XE4bBGXEgFr36b-5id-Yv0bxL_G7tZSS2mTa7PAWJQw4txXhfcUZXtUF_4CTELcUM7/s1600/IMG_1896.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgsgGDJBvdB1i5e0TVgQ5iZ3YkuSRoUzP9o8sq69meBQAGDOPFFYWq2twz-vUV6rszA6cDU0XE4bBGXEgFr36b-5id-Yv0bxL_G7tZSS2mTa7PAWJQw4txXhfcUZXtUF_4CTELcUM7/s320/IMG_1896.JPG" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-udfKsMCQdytGPnr7PTYGDnFEj5QsdBCmaIDh_HQioiz_g7D3Ny821lOo9i9DwytaqV-tDsO-sLQV-95iw8ku4RDtFadoTN7oxVU0UISMOSYJMB3RGLDMVHIslRTTQoH7e9lDZkv2/s1600/IMG_1897.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-udfKsMCQdytGPnr7PTYGDnFEj5QsdBCmaIDh_HQioiz_g7D3Ny821lOo9i9DwytaqV-tDsO-sLQV-95iw8ku4RDtFadoTN7oxVU0UISMOSYJMB3RGLDMVHIslRTTQoH7e9lDZkv2/s320/IMG_1897.JPG" /></a>
<P><P>
I like how it looks when you're standing in the doorway of the studio.
<P><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEis9TdceuKtV-uDHXiH1huHe_L4-t3iZQSVNfyyublQQHOSQDxF_QEqjIyQBCnLQ0-aXLOaHGS34zbSh7OsR0FUXCcZrUD5E1zgfsecxP9FMUY5-KRN8u1XUvVE2paHCKN0mx9OSKv0/s1600/IMG_1909.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEis9TdceuKtV-uDHXiH1huHe_L4-t3iZQSVNfyyublQQHOSQDxF_QEqjIyQBCnLQ0-aXLOaHGS34zbSh7OsR0FUXCcZrUD5E1zgfsecxP9FMUY5-KRN8u1XUvVE2paHCKN0mx9OSKv0/s320/IMG_1909.JPG" /></a>
<P><P>
Now to figure out what I'm going to finish up next. I do have a few things that are waiting for a couple of final steps. I also have a bunch of things I WANT to make but haven't started yet.
<P><P>
So many projects, so little time. :)

Also picked up some black duck canvas to cover the foam to go under the seat of the futon to raise it up and make it more comfortable. I finished all of the covers (with zippers and ties) before getting sick (thank goodness). I think they came our quite nice, if I do say so myself. :)

<P>It's about 40x40. I think it's going to just be a throw on the glider.
<p><P> I think the quilt top to cover the futon is going to be made into a comforter cover type sleeve for the futon pad. I'll quilt the top and make the back black. I'm thinking velcro as the closure unless there's enough overage to make a placket with button holes then I'll find some big black and/or white buttons for it.
<P><P>I made large pillow covers as well. Same block on the front but larger, and zippered backs.

<P><p>Another topic in our discussion was 18-inch dolls and clothes. So here's my doll, same line as the one we got for the God Monkey for Christmas. (Gotta make sure the clothes I make for the God Monkey's doll fit, right?) And it turns out that one of the little cuties that I know (I work with her mom at J.O.B.#2) got an 18-inch doll from her Grandpa. Guess I've got one more punkin' to make doll clothes for ... :)

I plan to be better this year. And to start it all off ...
<p><p>
I made a new purse to start out the new year. And, as I do when I make a purse, I made a bunch of accessories to go with it. I used batiks since they are my current favorite.
<p><p>
Starting with the little stuff (and I get nothing for endorsing/linking the things and places that I link except for the joy of sharing something I like) ...
<p><P>
I made 2 zipper pouches from <a href="http://www.atkinsondesigns.com/">Atkinson Designs</a> <a href="http://store.atkinsondesigns.com/stores_app/Browse_Item_Details_ws.asp?Shopper_id=6811192217516811&Store_id=913&page_id=23&Item_ID=1033">Cash and Carry pattern</a>.

<p><P>
Also seen in the above picture is the pouch I made for my glucose testing supplies out of <a href="https://www.fabricdepot.com/index.php?page=CatalogPage&pageid=5515">pet screen</a>. Better picture here:

Using <a href="http://www.infarrantlycreative.net/2013/07/business-card-wallet.html#.Us9lLHeDkuA">this Mega Credit Card Wallet</a> as inspiration (and a base) I made a card/cash/check wallet. I made two of the insert/card holders and put them in check book cover type of shell (a pocket on each inside). Added 1/4-inch black elastic to keep the cards in - LOVE IT!!

And, as I'm trying to get better about journaling my food as well as keep track of my glucose readings, I had to have a cool notebook or datebook. Found one on sale/clearance and made a cover for it. Got a little crazy when making the cover and got it a bit tight (should have made it about half an inch taller as well as half an inch wider) and I had to trim the plastic cover on the 3 non-bound sides in order for it to fit while being able to open it easily. Even made an attached book mark to make it easier to find my page. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints. Even the crappy free motion quilting came out cool looking. :)

As for the purse itself, I only made a couple of minor modifications from the <a href="http://www.wpcreek.com/item.php?itemid=1236">Baby Sister Purse pattern</a> by <a href="http://www.wpcreek.com/">Whistlepig Creek Productions</a>. (I've also made their <a href="http://www.wpcreek.com/item.php?itemid=1187">Sweet Retreat Bag</a> and <a href="http://www.wpcreek.com/item.php?itemid=1187">Leyvie Bag</a>. Can you tell I really like their stuff?)

My minor modifications include a longer zipper with a ring stitched to the purse under the tail end to clip my keys onto and my purse handles are approx 1 inch wide instead of 1 & 1/2 inches wide since I made mine differently. (As a general rule, for strength and heft, I cover cotton strapping with fabric and top stitch the crap out of it - at least 2 or 3 rows of stitching the length of the strapping.)
<P><P>
And for my next trick, I have a checkbook cover to make for one of my local baristas as well as another purse (the same pattern as my sewing notions purse - <a href="http://www.pinksandbeachdesigns.com/">Pink Sand Beach Designs</a> pattern <a href="http://store.pinksandbeachdesigns.com/114-bermuda-bag.html">Bermuda Bag</a>) in browns and greens for one of the hubby's co-workers. I've got everything cut out and together, just need to sit down and make it. I might even throw in a zipper pouch or card wallet, who knows. :)
<P><P>
And on other notes, as I'm now at a point of not accruing vacation time again, I'll be taking Fridays in January off from the office and attempting to dedicate them to the sewing machine ... who knows? Maybe this will get me motivated and in the right mindset to give in to the "encouragement" I've been getting from all over the place and start making things to sell (other than the occasional baby quilt).

<p></p><p>I'm taking over his room.
</p><p></p><p>I've got new shelves up and bolts of fabric on them. I've got a stand built and put under the TV he left. I've got my glider and ottoman moved into the room already. Now to get fabric, blu-ray, books, patterns, sewing machine, table, the other two shelving units, computer stuff, and everything else needed to sew moved upstairs. <i><b>NOT</b></i> a daunting task at all. :) Fortunately, I'm not trying to do it all at once, although I'd really like to be able to snap my fingers or wiggle my nose and have it done and ready to use.
</p><p></p><p>I'm thinking about getting a futon to put in the new sewing room. Then it would double as a guest room if someone comes to visit. Provided they don't touch any of my sewing stuff. :)
</p><p></p><p>I'm looking forward to getting it done so I can work in it. I've got a couple of baby quilts and some actual QUILTING that I need to do. And I think the new space will give me someplace I can do quilting using the quilting frame I have to use with the sewing machine. And with the glider (and possibly futon) there, I might actually do some hand quilting or dig out some hand embroidery or possibly even some cross-stitch.
</p><p></p><p><i>( many days later ... )
</i>
</p><p></p><p>Lots has been done:
</p><ul>
<li>futon has been purchased, built, installed</li>
<li>sewing desk purchased, built, ready to roll</li>
<li>books are all moved (with a few minor exceptions)</li>
<li>fabric has all been moved </li>
<li>some bits and pieces set up around</li>
<li>blu-ray player moved and set up</li>
<li>1 hanging beer light replaced and new hanging light installed (not sure when the 2nd beer light will be replaced - hopefully soon)</li>
</ul>
But there is still lots more to be done. Some more bits and pieces to be situated, rulers and templates to be put in their new location (which has yet to be determined), fabric sorted and organized better (some got mixed in the move upstairs, the majority of the rest wasn't organized to begin with.)
<p></p><p>I'm getting settled in. I've already spent a couple of evenings on the futon watching tv and reading with the dog and cat.
</p><p></p><p>Pictures of the new space (some good pictures, some not so good pictures):

<p>and if you look close, behind the tv you can see finished quilts on the top shelf and bolt-rolled quilt tops on the lower shelf. (Yep, that's one of Uncle Jack's ducks on top of the tv - it's mate is on the shelf over my desk in the office.)</p><p>
</p><p>As you can see, I've been busy and still have more work to do. I'll do a little more organizing and moving of things, maybe one or two more nights worth, and then I need to jump into a couple of baby quilts <i>tout-suite</i>. And then dig back into the glam'ing up of the sewing room:
</p><ul>
<li>make curtains (already have a style and some colors/fabrics in mind)</li>
<li>make a cover specifically for the futon (colors decided on, fabrics still to be chosen)</li>
<li>pillowcases to match futon cover and curtains</li>
<li>pillowcases for large throw pillow forms to match futon cover and curtains (colors decided on, some fabrics in mind)</li>
<li>batting rolls to be moved from den to sewing room ... although the more I think about it, the more inclined I am to leave them in the den </li>
</ul>
<p></p><p>After looking at all the pictures, can you tell what I'm watching while working in the new digs? Eureka knows, but he's not telling ... :) </p><p>

Last night I made a card wallet. Made some modifications to a tutorial I found online and ended up with this:
<p><p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOesSEryuRvIOf-G_VJdFJ5RbZQbmpSoJ4Ez8LZZz6LxDPhwmO7lCE6DRyoaENYd5Ez6DZZkoG5x94Uq9hwStEfH-9CzBEzjGy5FKfHLC70-4Z8df7T4-X-MhL4E49akKn9BJHUQxB/s1600/IMG_1325.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOesSEryuRvIOf-G_VJdFJ5RbZQbmpSoJ4Ez8LZZz6LxDPhwmO7lCE6DRyoaENYd5Ez6DZZkoG5x94Uq9hwStEfH-9CzBEzjGy5FKfHLC70-4Z8df7T4-X-MhL4E49akKn9BJHUQxB/s400/IMG_1325.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>This morning, to go with it I made a purse from a pattern I've been trying to find the right fabrics for for a very long time. I did some fussy cutting and piecing where it doesn't call for it in the pattern. I ended up with this:
<p><p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP625bm8NxkPm0R9zqcRposMGqsjrTkRJCnTW91KAs5DWpp3Pf9fjsDKQF2MLbi0d6GBhGmuXpXoaDLDQVMtvyvHAOap-0LfmjBrGwSPzDxL_oqn-8d1CtNdej-UPn5k5tUJgak9Uo/s1600/IMG_1327.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP625bm8NxkPm0R9zqcRposMGqsjrTkRJCnTW91KAs5DWpp3Pf9fjsDKQF2MLbi0d6GBhGmuXpXoaDLDQVMtvyvHAOap-0LfmjBrGwSPzDxL_oqn-8d1CtNdej-UPn5k5tUJgak9Uo/s400/IMG_1327.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>I decided that I wanted to use it as my everyday thing and that I needed a change pouch. So, using the same fabrics from the others, I made this:
<p><p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi06knX9HaMLHVHQY7N_HvRjLACR4XlteOm5GUxU9W6kZZs0qdS9htQKeNUhnwycDlSUWrAMokhuu_DPWR20S0osIBiH69XtkjAb7ZTCrVMApsfmAXnGt6gEK7-kQ18gqWr8pNPrvLD/s1600/IMG_1326.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi06knX9HaMLHVHQY7N_HvRjLACR4XlteOm5GUxU9W6kZZs0qdS9htQKeNUhnwycDlSUWrAMokhuu_DPWR20S0osIBiH69XtkjAb7ZTCrVMApsfmAXnGt6gEK7-kQ18gqWr8pNPrvLD/s400/IMG_1326.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>I'm thinking about finding a good checkbook cover pattern and making one out of the same fabrics. Still in the thinking stages on this one.
<p><p>Here's what the whole set looks like at the moment.
<p><p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgEe-LHU1lvVF1Vr-Fs2mvSuTimo3ujdn8rINr249R9HXvNtj1PqwqTURT21G3Poe9M2WDlDQTDl4au7Cog-0bGy79clKcu0z4JWKRYIJjuFSwqZXR7WEkww9RdvLqm8DmVp-l5d0Z/s1600/IMG_1324.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgEe-LHU1lvVF1Vr-Fs2mvSuTimo3ujdn8rINr249R9HXvNtj1PqwqTURT21G3Poe9M2WDlDQTDl4au7Cog-0bGy79clKcu0z4JWKRYIJjuFSwqZXR7WEkww9RdvLqm8DmVp-l5d0Z/s400/IMG_1324.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><P>The Kid's girlfriend was awestruck that I'd gotten so much done in such a short time. She's so cute. :)

<P><P>P.S. Almost forgot, in addition to all of the sewing this morning, this afternoon was spent at IKEA and Target getting household goods for the kids' apartment at UCDavis (where we're moving them to next weekend). Tomorrow is a major CostCo run ... (rolling eyes) I can't wait ... ;)
<p><p>P.P.S. Just made a checkbook cover to go with everything else ...

It's all of the country concerts at the local amphitheater. This year it was 8. The last concert was Luke Bryan, Eli Young Band, and Kacey Musgraves. EXCELLENT concert.
<p><p>We chat with the folks who bought the pairs of seats on either side of us. This concert the spousal unit and the husband of the couple to the left were having a little more fun than usual.

I'm going to take the hem stitching out and use them in a wall hanging. I'm debating what to do for a design. I was thinking the word "quilt" or "quilter" in Japanese. Or possibly some other iconic Japanese image, if I can come up with one that speaks to me. :)
<p><p>Very pretty fabrics:

<p><p>One of my favorites wasn't part of the kitted/blocks-done bunch. It's <a href="http://www.jaybirdquilts.com/2012/10/science-fair.html">Science Fair by Jaybird Quilts</a>. Fun to do and I love the way it came out with all the paisleys. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEmQp85qJv5cVzYEFOf_BNerTCsN646HVDQtjHCnFsD-sX7NXjAJYe3XF_ciu9F0Mi0rQWiPCK2YNgP54zlxJEonKLzHCpHz0sXu4PldFmeoDKkwv9bUE6w41yIeHUpddmP5Yt0jSp/s1600/IMG_1055.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEmQp85qJv5cVzYEFOf_BNerTCsN646HVDQtjHCnFsD-sX7NXjAJYe3XF_ciu9F0Mi0rQWiPCK2YNgP54zlxJEonKLzHCpHz0sXu4PldFmeoDKkwv9bUE6w41yIeHUpddmP5Yt0jSp/s320/IMG_1055.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>Three red and black quilts were done as part of the "you need to make something so the dog doesn't tear up the backseat of the (new) car" sessions.
<p>hounds tooth (adapted some online tutorials for this one):<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOa5hK1VSykTkbDonumsZdl1vfA-bDiYertRvUiKtSpucquLg8RFjkzt1uM2xq4wL_wOgU-5S7Md978uo46-Z_Mrmoq5B2oUUNbvQqs-D7irkdH3NO_R_jCW3iTDlN_Ln_lEslevKK/s1600/IMG_0900.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOa5hK1VSykTkbDonumsZdl1vfA-bDiYertRvUiKtSpucquLg8RFjkzt1uM2xq4wL_wOgU-5S7Md978uo46-Z_Mrmoq5B2oUUNbvQqs-D7irkdH3NO_R_jCW3iTDlN_Ln_lEslevKK/s320/IMG_0900.JPG" /></a></div>
<p>wonky square-in-square-in-square (I love designing on graph paper):<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6MsW3QplTdMdYpE4KZXS8n0mI-TouKHShgH-a7dErziyef1iZ3dwQk0U5mSBJvdOGe3kfZhJ22Ezylj83wjWJ8bF8uc3T2sBviJHcmwOx5w9D1rPex5CHtlr2oySc_fIkbIhPSQgQ/s1600/IMG_0899.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6MsW3QplTdMdYpE4KZXS8n0mI-TouKHShgH-a7dErziyef1iZ3dwQk0U5mSBJvdOGe3kfZhJ22Ezylj83wjWJ8bF8uc3T2sBviJHcmwOx5w9D1rPex5CHtlr2oySc_fIkbIhPSQgQ/s320/IMG_0899.JPG" /></a></div>
<p>and something a little different (my own design): <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT-IuyM-LT8dxXBXxxLYJiiX7gVzxQO34IsTI46-OlnaunhFGUrMrz9G1jyvqYKGZYUaGT9oSms9mysEjmZTw0RFt7InA61WOa8936ryqdlsTDW2e7paUFsPYLeTBhagkZuKiPlPjO/s1600/IMG_0859.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT-IuyM-LT8dxXBXxxLYJiiX7gVzxQO34IsTI46-OlnaunhFGUrMrz9G1jyvqYKGZYUaGT9oSms9mysEjmZTw0RFt7InA61WOa8936ryqdlsTDW2e7paUFsPYLeTBhagkZuKiPlPjO/s320/IMG_0859.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>I dug through the pile of extra jelly roll strips and created a version of something I saw in a book somewhere: <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQorunW38Cluu2PkbYvDbK3xjxGotNCFzVLa7F1fmE2CEr6X_kcBrtC7fl6pAzIlNzDVHNwXzBxT4AwVjPKQ6fN4xRnyLLnemqFw30ie6Fh3rtWMm7HPa8SW0sgWRAORY7IwLZB_IQ/s1600/IMG_1200.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQorunW38Cluu2PkbYvDbK3xjxGotNCFzVLa7F1fmE2CEr6X_kcBrtC7fl6pAzIlNzDVHNwXzBxT4AwVjPKQ6fN4xRnyLLnemqFw30ie6Fh3rtWMm7HPa8SW0sgWRAORY7IwLZB_IQ/s320/IMG_1200.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>I've been really enjoying all the modern quilting books out there. Found the instructions for this purple zigzag quilt in one of them (but don't remember which book):<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil15R1GYLf1CsrVngDwJYP08AWfaymdXJUk8Pusozrn9YKqLQUWft-E3LLUvnoJ3iMeuYefzXqYtOK8FMbFXfw47rX-3h8HcZzwz5amYxvmbQUmRE1Vzs0OW8eLFlH6usSCxj8DKPC/s1600/IMG_1150.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil15R1GYLf1CsrVngDwJYP08AWfaymdXJUk8Pusozrn9YKqLQUWft-E3LLUvnoJ3iMeuYefzXqYtOK8FMbFXfw47rX-3h8HcZzwz5amYxvmbQUmRE1Vzs0OW8eLFlH6usSCxj8DKPC/s320/IMG_1150.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>Some large yellow and blue churn dash blocks from scraps came together to make this one:<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgC3ILlac-UejQdSqBh526bYycspl5VCEbB7mQyaQh2dw234qdoIfEQJoaVEYdE326e8WaOo2NUT4o7hDyzd7bKbixK88y3kWXize3IaKCwzWfxzjPMYP4zM06Z0jvKxmbE7IjmjXj/s1600/IMG_1071.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgC3ILlac-UejQdSqBh526bYycspl5VCEbB7mQyaQh2dw234qdoIfEQJoaVEYdE326e8WaOo2NUT4o7hDyzd7bKbixK88y3kWXize3IaKCwzWfxzjPMYP4zM06Z0jvKxmbE7IjmjXj/s320/IMG_1071.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>Random scraps and fat quarters played together nice in this one: <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEWZ05cGZxbsMNlWhLXKKjLIp3p-BzKTt_1LKQxZu-Cca_1noywfcCWQKQAt55uPwmzzEdhcBZtXwDUOCaKQEFFsy23THz8wEvogeq03m2HZniu5EzzSdwXWcsdxQNgAP6FB9FlpU_/s1600/IMG_1072.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEWZ05cGZxbsMNlWhLXKKjLIp3p-BzKTt_1LKQxZu-Cca_1noywfcCWQKQAt55uPwmzzEdhcBZtXwDUOCaKQEFFsy23THz8wEvogeq03m2HZniu5EzzSdwXWcsdxQNgAP6FB9FlpU_/s320/IMG_1072.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>I call this one Squeemish. Snail trail blocks made in opposite directions and in this layout make me think of bugs:<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnk1k6yHdNiAJh_msSJutEEUaY8bhYt40n0nyf7vUc3Px_a_oijM9U4-1juJc13gcfgNAbERWFKJgg8EMbS3CJiufdqbVjQIyKRLsXNk-sf2CWo3yl-tJSFjmuSQfLTMHmGaiFFP93/s1600/IMG_1077.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnk1k6yHdNiAJh_msSJutEEUaY8bhYt40n0nyf7vUc3Px_a_oijM9U4-1juJc13gcfgNAbERWFKJgg8EMbS3CJiufdqbVjQIyKRLsXNk-sf2CWo3yl-tJSFjmuSQfLTMHmGaiFFP93/s320/IMG_1077.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>Couple of bright batik tops: <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfuZxjLLvwbA4uvVWUhqW3wp6QxGXB9QUH7y8uGyjtSnXUYKD0cWDfU5TUATiREYs1TXsaQbNf3iV2v8OOmW9PX0Rs4oM_h9HNLBKRd5pUC-sIg-dbVOMccIYaApIpUE6_b7yTbdp2/s1600/IMG_1068.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfuZxjLLvwbA4uvVWUhqW3wp6QxGXB9QUH7y8uGyjtSnXUYKD0cWDfU5TUATiREYs1TXsaQbNf3iV2v8OOmW9PX0Rs4oM_h9HNLBKRd5pUC-sIg-dbVOMccIYaApIpUE6_b7yTbdp2/s320/IMG_1068.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBBRqO5T9u-0zsWO7pd8eH4EZk7sYy3DQt-o5RNKwS1hWaV9TplHtBRcdRZa5spkGNDFUx5TqBWarlqM8UY8U_a54Lgu18nIZ3G4uf3n7hn1cIED2xzTK6kA7RL8k9v2SY806rfU_z/s1600/IMG_1074.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBBRqO5T9u-0zsWO7pd8eH4EZk7sYy3DQt-o5RNKwS1hWaV9TplHtBRcdRZa5spkGNDFUx5TqBWarlqM8UY8U_a54Lgu18nIZ3G4uf3n7hn1cIED2xzTK6kA7RL8k9v2SY806rfU_z/s320/IMG_1074.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>This one makes me think of dangling ribbons: <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB9kMVyyjfeJJlKfm9M7RE03TL8Q13h7oa8ppkctlFwOTpWPsq-JdGmM18hUKt_-FA_H2LTHSXenlHWLIXxZn74yyfGz8zOoPOQF7AnuZ9N18pn3TBmnjUh_SNG06oX8Z5h9CIHAAP/s1600/IMG_1070.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB9kMVyyjfeJJlKfm9M7RE03TL8Q13h7oa8ppkctlFwOTpWPsq-JdGmM18hUKt_-FA_H2LTHSXenlHWLIXxZn74yyfGz8zOoPOQF7AnuZ9N18pn3TBmnjUh_SNG06oX8Z5h9CIHAAP/s320/IMG_1070.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>And certainly by no means the least of the bunch (even though it <i>is</i> last), is what I'm calling Fly By Night. All flying geese made with Halloween fabrics. Definitely a fun one to watch come together.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2v_4xMOQr_rGnx-PXC__x7-09kNMJZCE0NxBmtG5KK_L0jOy1l0nrKf74J03HQPo-UmmSiJ4hr87UDJpCjYablbF3huM1MJTU2r6UFhNYR6Zc7j82ZBXFP8gAnequ6AoC1_BiDIIM/s1600/IMG_0784.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2v_4xMOQr_rGnx-PXC__x7-09kNMJZCE0NxBmtG5KK_L0jOy1l0nrKf74J03HQPo-UmmSiJ4hr87UDJpCjYablbF3huM1MJTU2r6UFhNYR6Zc7j82ZBXFP8gAnequ6AoC1_BiDIIM/s320/IMG_0784.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>Plenty more kitted things waiting to be done, whole bunch of tops waiting to be sandwiched and quilted - some in California and some in Maine - and lots and lots of patterns and fabrics to make more of everything.

Guess I need the full on satisfaction of a job totally completed. Not just a pieced top that's waiting to be quilted.
<p><p>I mad e a few wallets. The prototype used fabrics chosen by the kid's girlfriend so she ended up with it.

<p><p>One was made out of a scrap of the center strip used in a 4th of July table cloth.

<p><p>Another thing that I made was a portable pressing pad. I used the top of a broken tv tray, batting, staple gun, Steam-A-Seam, a few fat quarters, and a bright pink cotton strap. I really like how it came out. And because it's got the tv tray top in it, it's solid.

The first was to a coworker as a baby gift for a cousin.

<p><p>The second was a direct result of wearing/bringing the purse I made into J.O.B. #2 on aqn off day to pick up a couple of things. The woman saw it and we started chatting. Turns out she had a baby shower to go to a few days later. Fortunately I'd been playing with turning a full sized quilt pattern into a baby sized quilt. I ended up with 4 (FOUR!!) tops from the blocks I ended up with. Talk about things so not going in the right direction. :) When I quilted it, I did a stitch in the ditch around the outside of the colored shapes but not between the colors. The back looked really cute with that quilting. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of anything after the pieced top. But I have 3 more to work with! :)

The pattern is <a href="http://www.wpcreek.com/item.php?itemid=1219">Leyvie Bag by Whistlepig Creek Productions</a>.
<p> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT46-WuG22do1iqdWp_sUpSqd4CSyxVC0ehQGww3Fto69G4IuWmOXEi0gySoUHqxompSeZb0nPOvZdIYvyutMb-FdijGxYd_QYfzxjDy8lP1lY7p-JOwatM6arkSqHQhgwXqndaK_2/s1600/pattern.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT46-WuG22do1iqdWp_sUpSqd4CSyxVC0ehQGww3Fto69G4IuWmOXEi0gySoUHqxompSeZb0nPOvZdIYvyutMb-FdijGxYd_QYfzxjDy8lP1lY7p-JOwatM6arkSqHQhgwXqndaK_2/s400/pattern.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>LOVE it! Thinking about making a couple more in different fabrics so I've got more choices. Only thing I changed was the strap - the only wide enough cotton strapping I had didn't match so I covered it in my favorite fabric from the purse.

<p><p>These are two of my favorite designers/pattern companies. Everything is really cute!
<p><p>I also made a wallet of my own design. One of the women I work with at J.O.B #2 wants me to make one for her. :)

Sometimes I think baby quilts are the most quilting I do. Nevertheless, they're always fun to make and imagine the little bundles of joy that will be sleeping under and on top of what I've put time, effort, and love into. I've done two for gifts lately
<p><p>Number one was for my boss at my retail job (aka J.O.B. #2). This was baby number 3 for her. I had a hard time deciding what to go with and finally decided on butterflies.
<p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8AG9-UFhadWjTaUcOJIC97IDQkNicqgjA5dqp0psm9D5S7zawFhwa-vkXpik0UPXq26YD7QLqbRTZdPvwALyjHB3jYrqrj6vYwey-a4n52guZLOrg36o4OSlCIpke0c8wSQ-fxEjf/s1600/IMG_1026.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8AG9-UFhadWjTaUcOJIC97IDQkNicqgjA5dqp0psm9D5S7zawFhwa-vkXpik0UPXq26YD7QLqbRTZdPvwALyjHB3jYrqrj6vYwey-a4n52guZLOrg36o4OSlCIpke0c8wSQ-fxEjf/s400/IMG_1026.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>The next one was for someone that my husband works with. Again, tough to decide what to do. Jungle/Monkeys seemed to fit the bill.
<p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixUv3foyj6IRNys_gmLgwFee5ZfkDfufYIwfnQbmaVqB6ygOOJft6gMF5b2IRE-PA3IFAswmiMc-fFhHmP0o7kA0bC4eYQIjwABiX8Plk8inzn9ZRgLOHX-zFD3TQgOpPgVl95Zbnv/s1600/IMG_1059.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixUv3foyj6IRNys_gmLgwFee5ZfkDfufYIwfnQbmaVqB6ygOOJft6gMF5b2IRE-PA3IFAswmiMc-fFhHmP0o7kA0bC4eYQIjwABiX8Plk8inzn9ZRgLOHX-zFD3TQgOpPgVl95Zbnv/s400/IMG_1059.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>I've got 2 more that I need to do in the very near future. One is a collaboration quilt with a co-worker at J.O.B. #2 for another co-worker at J.O.B. #2. K's doing some cross stitch blocks and I'll be using the embroidered blocks in a bag, changing pad, and quilt. I'll base the final blocks and layout on what K's done for cross stitch. We've got about 4-5 months to get this worked up.
<p><p>The other baby quilt gift I'm still noodling on is for one of my favorite drive-thru baristas. This will be daughter number 5 if I remember correctly. I'm debating working a coffee theme into it but I'm not sure yet. I've got about 2 more months for this one.
<p><p>A quilter's joy is never done. :)
<p><p><i><b>-Biird-</b></i>Wendy Ameshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11907616266112640747noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-471633450176686500.post-57380628050564822712013-08-18T19:00:00.000-04:002013-08-18T19:00:05.573-04:00Organiized? (or just wiishful thinking?)In the midst of getting organized, or at least pretending to get organized, I made a decision. I decided that my finished quilt tops needed to be rolled onto empty fabric bolts instead of folded up into my clear plastic bins.
<p><p>Now that the decision was made, I started bringing bolts home from J.O.B. #2. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLLaw2XMcPe6ZjHMEyvMTC2PXzXDwaf3-fAuHfs7ILlSeSIwnZZzvoRu4fkMrxn6DW-1BLvp0zz4rVhPGXt_zn2QUu54r-LBEIDsFnftpOSRJA99NxCgH-ibUdOs32oTlcO9WwO9KC/s1600/IMG_1311.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLLaw2XMcPe6ZjHMEyvMTC2PXzXDwaf3-fAuHfs7ILlSeSIwnZZzvoRu4fkMrxn6DW-1BLvp0zz4rVhPGXt_zn2QUu54r-LBEIDsFnftpOSRJA99NxCgH-ibUdOs32oTlcO9WwO9KC/s320/IMG_1311.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>Then I started rolling them up. Got quite a few and freed up a large bin for stash fabrics. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpSXx4NorjhMFLdnnKNkvZbfndY3cC6TjqDC5iYvDuILKx40LhKvphm7m2xEpOraFCS7aCBMnKvzO50jdNMuIAPp06AQRrtzwxXcE8kieAGsGJeTzk31i2oRNppx_DLM9zA_UGNhJO/s1600/IMG_1312.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpSXx4NorjhMFLdnnKNkvZbfndY3cC6TjqDC5iYvDuILKx40LhKvphm7m2xEpOraFCS7aCBMnKvzO50jdNMuIAPp06AQRrtzwxXcE8kieAGsGJeTzk31i2oRNppx_DLM9zA_UGNhJO/s320/IMG_1312.JPG" /></a></div>
<p><p>I also used some bolts for larger (>3 yard cuts) of fabric, interfacing, etc. Certainly makes it easier to find some things.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWDl5768r7DofsCFsaRibnOYw4UQ8W5hRYsg3FkzfB2q8WbWLfIwvdKqxMo8OwcoWdRdIaJmofIVENxLcx-fEslLuULUHiblP8szdcKYDldWBpzJpGqfAurjZAweKikJLmhb05LDlk/s1600/IMG_1313.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWDl5768r7DofsCFsaRibnOYw4UQ8W5hRYsg3FkzfB2q8WbWLfIwvdKqxMo8OwcoWdRdIaJmofIVENxLcx-fEslLuULUHiblP8szdcKYDldWBpzJpGqfAurjZAweKikJLmhb05LDlk/s320/IMG_1313.JPG" /></a></div>

A bunch of blocks that I paper pieced eons ago. They were enlarged versions of a block I used in a consignment quilt. I finally put them all together and created a table topper - just the top - out of them. That sat for a while. I pulled it back out not too long ago and finally got it quilted and bound. My free motion quilting leaves a LOT to be desired (I definitely need more practice) but it didn't come out half bad.

<p><p>To go with this, the hubby and I have been picking up some table ware to go with it - chopsticks and holder, mats, rice bowls, small dim sum plates, etc. It'll make a good gift for someone some day.

<p><p>Julie and I went shopping together to pick out the quilt fabrics. As always, we had fun. She went girly-girl with cute animals.
<p><p>front/top: <p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhQ1oFY520XgKmlOMZgyFGA9GAAmeTbPXQNttb49mQedtSMdr_2Qt7WaRLpW4_Z9RkBC7MSUUgE7CxZY9Xz6B7OPRH_6w3K0oFSgVCPb0lmK6QLY6na50yvtdlw6VGa2ugpgRe8wzG/s1600/IMG_1198.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhQ1oFY520XgKmlOMZgyFGA9GAAmeTbPXQNttb49mQedtSMdr_2Qt7WaRLpW4_Z9RkBC7MSUUgE7CxZY9Xz6B7OPRH_6w3K0oFSgVCPb0lmK6QLY6na50yvtdlw6VGa2ugpgRe8wzG/s400/IMG_1198.JPG" /></a></div>

<p><p> We went with some of the quilt fabrics for the pillow cases. Sooo freakin' CUTE!

<p><p>Then I pulled stuff from my stash (basically leftovers from my 4th of July stuff) and made a set of 4 place mats for her friend who was born on the 4th of July.

<p><p>I love working with Julie. She's got great ideas and is always a lot of fun to talk to and do things with.

<p><p> First was the cover for the ping pong table that one of the neighbors puts in the middle of the street for the shared food:

<p><p>This is how I found out that my favorite kid in the whole world (aka Nicholas, aka Cousin Itt, aka The Kid, aka ... well, you get the picture) got accepted to UC Davis as a junior to study Physics. He then told me that his girlfriend Mindy (budding biology major) also got accepted as a junior. The two of them have subsequently found an apartment, a roommate (little drama on that one - he's in, he's out, someone else is in), and the beginnings of a list of things they need. The kids are going to be Aggies.
<p><p>I don't know who's more excited for him to get this opportunity to spread his wings and grow - him or me! :) I never got the "away at college" experience. Hell, it took me over 13 years to get my AS so I guess I'm envious as hell as well as excited for him.
<p><p>Proud of both of the smart kids - Math & Science headed Nick and Medical Science focused Mindy. Love 'em both!
